Volume XIII, No. 3 April 2001 CALL FOR PAPERS! The program committee (Kate Duncan, chair; Candace Greene, Emma Hansen and Nancy Mithlo) invites NAASA members to submit a paper for the 2001 meetings in Portland. We invite potential papers both for open sessions and for the sessions listed below. Listed below are all the sessions that are open for additional papers. In addition, our host, the Portland Art Museum, in conjunction with the local organizing committee, has organized two exciting plenary sessions devoted to regional topics and issues. Please note that if a proposed session fails to fill, or we do not receive the required information from the session organizer in time to include it in the schedule, we reserve the right to merge it with another session or place proposed papers in an open session. NAASA members who have attended past conferences have requested that there be more opportunities for discussion, sharing of ideas and dialogue offered as part of the program. Therefore, for the first time, the program committee is organizing one or more poster sessions and invites members to give presentations concerning ongoing research, specific problems, issues or programs related to the study of Native American art. Posters will be displayed in a meeting room during a two-hour session and presenters should be available during that time for discussion with conference participants. SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS Please comply with the following instructions: An abstract should be no more than 100 words long. It must clearly define the subject of the paper and its purpose, and indicate the methodology. Also note whether the paper is issue oriented, problem oriented, or if you are seeking guidance for further study. Be sure to include your email and postal addresses as well as your phone number. If the abstract is being submitted for inclusion in one of the sessions described below, send it directly to the session organizer. If the paper is accepted by the session organizer he or she will notify the program committee. If the paper is rejected, the session organizer will forward the abstract to the program committee chair for consideration for an open session. Sending abstracts by email is preferred if the organizer has an email address. If you are submitting an abstract for an open session,
email is preferred, but you may also use regular mail or
