Royal B.C. Museum to Host NAASA Online into 1999

Alan Hoover, Department of Anthropology, Royal British Columbia Museum made a successful and entertaining bid for the 1999 NAASA conference to be held at the Ocean Pointe Resort in Victoria, British Columbia. Through two short video clips members toured the hotel facing the harbour and had a look at the spa, conference, and dining rooms as well as a brief tour of Victoria cultural sites. The hotel is more than capable of handling all our conference needs at a single site with great conference rates for Americans. The Royal B.C. Museum has a staff of 100 to assist the local coordination of the conference.

The Royal British Columbia Museum is a place of discovery. Through three unique galleries, the Museum showcases the human and natural history of British Columbia, and features periodic exhibitions of international renown. The history of British Columbiaâs First Nations is rich and diverse. Stories of triumph, tragedy and survival are told through a collection of remarkable artifacts, including a ceremonial Big House and totem poles.

Plans are already underway to provide on-going information and notices on the museumâs web site up through the conference in 1999. Bookmark and explore their site and look for upcoming announcements soon at http://rbcm1.rbcm.gov.bc.ca
