Newsletter Volume XII, No.4 July 1999 1999 NAASA HONOR AWARD RECIPIENT The Awards Committee (Kate Duncan and Aldona Jonaitis) are pleased to announce that Lakota artist and scholar, Dr. Arthur Amiotte, will receive the NAASA Honor Award. The award will be presented at the banquet on October 16th to be held at the Royal British Columbia Museum. Dr. Amiotte is a former NAASA board member and has made consistent scholarly and artistic contributions to the advancement and study of Native art throughout his lifetime. A large number of educational institutions, museums and galleries have benefited from the vision and leadership of this uniquely talented individual. It is hoped that all NAASA members will plan to attend the banquet to honor Dr. Amiotte.
