NAASA BOARD NOMINATIONS

The Nominating Committee (Barbara Hail, David Penney and Martin Red Bear) has received acceptances from the following individuals as nominees for NAASA board positions:

President: Robin Wright, Curator of Native American Art, Burke Museum and Assoc. Professor of Art History, University of Washington

Vice-President: Kate Duncan, Assoc. Professor of Art History, Arizona State University

Board of Directors:

Christina Burke, The Heritage Center, Pine Ridge, South Dakota and Department of Anthropology, Indiana University

Emma Hansen, Curator, Plains Indian Museum, Buffalo Bill Historical Center

Joseph Horse Capture, Assistant Curator, Minneapolis Institute of Arts

Bill Mercer, Curator of Native American Art, Portland Art Museum

Your registration packets will include brief biographies for each of these individuals. Please note that additional nominations for officers and board members will be accepted from the floor at the business meeting and the election will be held at that time.

Please also note that the Nominating Committee is proposing a slight change in the wording regarding the policies for eligibility for nominations for the board officers. This will allow us to draw from a greater number of present and past board members for officer nominations.

To: -that to be eligible for nomination as an officer (president, vice-president), nominees must have previously served on the board.
